Manufacturing Execution System
Overview
Designed and built a manufacturing execution system to replace legacy production workflows and provide real-time visibility into daily operations.
The platform converts incoming sales orders into structured work orders and supports the full production lifecycle, including scheduling, task execution, quality control, and operational reporting. The system is used daily by production staff, supervisors, and management to coordinate manufacturing activities.
Operational Scope
- Used by ~60 internal users across production and management
- Processes ~100 work orders per day
- Supports 100+ manufactured products and over 1,000 assembly components
- Runs as a business-critical system for day-to-day manufacturing operations
Key Features
- Automatic conversion of sales orders into production work orders
- QR code-based workflow for tracking progress on the shop floor
- Staff performance tracking based on speed and quality metrics
- Quality assurance workflows with approval and rejection processes
- Operational reporting across products, staff, and production stages
- Scheduling tools for planning and balancing daily workloads
Architecture
- Backend built with Laravel and REST APIs
- PostgreSQL for relational data and reporting
- Redis used for background processing and queue handling
- Integration with external order sources
- Designed for reliability and operational continuity in a live production environment
Operational Context
The system is currently running alongside the legacy platform during a transition period to ensure data consistency and operational stability before full migration. Ongoing development is driven by real production usage and operational feedback.
Responsibilities
- System architecture and technology selection
- Full-stack implementation and database design
- Infrastructure setup, deployment, and monitoring
- Production support and incident resolution
- Iterative improvements based on real-world operational needs
Impact
Improved visibility into production processes, reduced manual coordination, and introduced structured performance and quality tracking, enabling more controlled and efficient manufacturing operations.
